Our Trip to Nauvoo

The Beautiful Nauvoo temple. With statues of Joesph and Hyrum Smith on horses. This temple is so beautiful on the inside and out.
Porter in front of a marker to show where Porter Rockwell's property in Nauvoo was. Porter is named after Porter Rockwell so we thought it would be a fun picture to have.

So one of the best parts of living in the middle of the country is being able to visit different places and not being to far from them. Last Tuesday we decided we needed a little vacation so we decided to go to Nauvoo. We left Friday after Ty got off work and made the short 5 1/2 hr drive.

Porter and Landen posing with Joesph and Hyrum Smith at Carthage Jail.

Our family in front of the Mississippi River. We spent a lot of time throwing rocks and playing in the freezing cold water there. We also had a lot of fun looking at all the turtles that were on the logs. I wish we could have got a good still shot of them, but as soon as you got close to the turtles they would all dive off the logs.

Oops!! I don't konw how to delete pictures so here is the same picture again.

I think Landen's favorite part of the whole trip was the swimming pool at the hotel. We got up every morning and went swimming. Then went out around town then right back to the swimming pool after dinner. He had a lot of fun in the pool. To be honest we all had a lot of fun in the pool.

Look we can hold oxen in place, maybe we could be a pioneer family. We got to go on a wagon ride with these oxen pulling us.
Behind the bars of the holding cell at Carthage Jail
Trying to find more turtles. Notice the one turtle that did decide to get his picture taken. We were so excited that he stayed in place just for us!

Since Landen was going to miss the day of pre-school we took him to a pioneer pre-school. Both him and Porter thought the little lap chalk boards we a lot of fun. Ty and I had a lot of fun trying to figure out some of the words they us to misspell.

We got to go on a wagon ride all around old Nauvoo. Both Landen and Porter thought that was a lot of fun.

Throwing rocks into the Mississippi river.

Family picture infront of the Mississippi River. Landen was not to happy that he had to have his picture taken instead of throwing rocks, but he did stand there long enough for the picture to be taken.

Maybe someday we will make it over to Nauvoo! At least you can get pictures of the two boys together! I can't get Jackson to hold still long enough to do it! Cute family!

That is so great that you get to go and visit all those places. I am jealous that you were able to see Nauvoo. I want to go there so badly... maybe one day!

p.s. As soon as I saw your comment on my blog I instantly felt bad for complaining about two little weeks... You are amazing and I don't know how you do it!
