The Drive Home

Well the fun did have to come to and end. We loaded the car up and left bright and early Thursday morning. Well not really early we didn't leave until 10:00 A.M we were having to much fun and we didn't really want it to end. Thanks Rocknaks for the fun time! We can't wait to come again!

Our digs for the week!

This is the cottage we rented for the week in Rapid City. It was a lot of fun to have our own little place. It had 2 bedrooms, a bath room, full kitchen, and a family room area.

For a side note. Hattie learned how to crawl and pull herself up on things during this trip.

The cottage also included a climbing wall.

The boys in their room. It was really cute to see how they were laying in the morning. They both usually were laying sideways. They had a lot of fun sharing a bed.

Celebration!!

To celebrate Oscar Meyers win (see post below) we headed out the the Firehouse Brewing Co. for some delicious food. On the way to Rapid City we pasted some billboards for the Firehouse Brewing Co. and all of them had an old firetruck in front of them so we had to check it out. The kids really liked their fire hats they got and Ty and I really liked the food. So everyone won!

Old McDonalds Farm

Wednesday after Bear Country we headed over to Old McDonalds Farm. The kids got to touch all kinds of farm animals, go for a tractor ride, a pony ride, and feed baby cows. We also got to watch a pig race. The pig we chose to win, Oscar Meyer, won the race!!

Bear Country USA

On Wednesday we went to Bear Country USA.We had so much fun here. The kids had so much fun looking for all the animals. When we got to the Bears they were all over the place. They would pace back and forth in front of the cars and were walking all around the car also. The boys thought it was a lot of fun to see them that close. We also saw elk, moutain goats, reindeer, moutain lions, wolves, and the cutest of them all the baby bear cubs. We also had a picnic after we were finished walking around.

Hattie's First Oreo

She loved it!!

The Badlands

Porter fell asleep in the car so no pics of him.

Tuesday we got up and headed out to see the Badlands. It was pretty neat to see, but the next time we go to South Dakota we will just enjoy them while we drive into Rapid City. We also stopped at Wall Drug just to check it out. On the way to Rapid City there was about 100 signs about this Wall Drug, so being the tourist that we are we had to stop and see it just to say we've been there. It was just a big tourist trap, but pretty cool to see. Sorry no pics you'll just have to check it out yourself.

Porter's Birthday Party

After all the fun during the day we ended the day having a Birthday Party for Porter! The Rocknak's put up the inflatable slide and the kids went crazy. We grilled hot dogs and brauts. Ate some dinner played some more ate some cake, played some more, opened presents and played some more. We had a blast

Porter loves tractor!! So I made some dirt, grass, and through some tractors on there. He loved it!

Wildlife Loop Road and the Needle's Highway

If you ever wondered what the inside of a mules nose now you know! This guy decided he wanted to see what was inside of our Jeep.

These guys also wanted to join in the fun.
This guy was just grazing on the side of the road.

We went down Needle's highway and it has a lot of bends in the road. All the sudden I hear Porter going weeee and this is what I found when I looked back.
These last 2 pictures don't give justice to how beautiful the Black Hills are. You have to see to believe how beautiful they are!

Story Book Island

After Cabelas we headed to Story Book Island. The kids had so much fun running around and seeing some of their favorite story book characters. The kids also got to go on a train ride twice! After we played at the park we had a picnic.
